The best route to Cadaques? I think so...

Girona to Cadaques. Great route, even better company.

Girona-Cadaques

The fog remains settled in Girona as we meet together to depart on a beautiful route to Cadaques. Our companions have travelled from Mexico to experience the best of cycling in Girona and Cataluyna, finishing their week long tour with a special ride to the beautiful coastal town of Cadaques.

We depart through the fog of Girona and head north. Equipped with Aurum bikes and full ENVE components, we know that the day upon could not be experienced with any better equipment.

The route we take on extends to 110km and includes the famous climb of St Pere de Rodes. The "Mayor of Girona", Miquel Trafach, has prepared a route for us which incorporates all of the best small roads and sites to Cadaques.

We passing through the beautiful small villages of the Emporda surrounded by rolling planes, vineyards and olive fields. We ride for kilometres with very little disturbance of traffic and only the sound of laughter filling the air. These small roads snake along from town to town and direct us to the magnificent village of Perelada, known for the wineries which surround it and produce prestigious Catalan Cava. We stop for some refuelling at a local cafeteria, involving multiple coffees and croissants. Now fuelled up, we progress further north towards the St Pere de Rodes climb. A solid 8.5km with an average gradient of 5.7%. We climb together and crest the to experience the breathtaking views upon Port de la Selva, satisfied with our efforts so far. Taking care, we descend the winding roads to Port de la Selva and start the last gradual climb of the day. Finally, we descending down towards Cadaques and are encompassed by the beautiful vistas of the coast. With only smiles filling the atmosphere, we are all upon satisfied with experiencing a great day on the bike.

Above all, we together agreed that this is the best route to Cadaques from Girona.
